Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet SAFE (Saving Animals From Euthanasia) Class XII at WKCC (Western KY Correctional Complex). Seven dogs will train for approximately two months with inmate handlers. In that time, the dogs will be housetrained, crate trained, trained to walk on a loose leash, and able to perform some tricks. They will also be neutered, on flea and tick preventative, on heartworm preventative, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccinations. The cost for adopting a SAFE dog is $150.00. Applications will be taken until March 25 and the graduation date will be Friday, April 5, 2013. Applications may be downloaded from safehavenky.weebly.com and sent to SAFE Haven KY, P.O. Box 401, Princeton, KY 42445.
This is Carlos Santana, a three year old long haired Chihuahua, who was on his own in the woods for quite awhile. He was finally captured by throwing a coat over him. He was scheduled for euthanasia because of his feral nature, but was taken into foster by a woman who never gives up on dogs, whatever their stories. SAFE baby Carlos now enjoys people and tolerates other dogs. His handlers haven gotten him to trust by passing him around to the other handlers for lots of cuddling. This boy has gone from cowering to seeking out laps!
