I am already neutered.
Jasper is a youngster, 4 months old, and right now about 20 lbs. Very happy and friends. He is a big baby and loves to be held. Jasper is very social and really enjoys to play and run. Great dog!

Because of layoffs and furlough days every other Friday, you can help speed up the adoption process 2 ways!
1) Inquires should include both the Dogs name & IMPOUND #.
2) Be sure to include the 'Home Owners Name' of the Property where you live or your Landlords Name and Ph. #. Let your landlord know that the shelter will be calling!
3) IF YOU RESIDE OUTSIDE OF MADERA COUNTY PLEASE PROVIDE THE PARCEL OR APN NUMBER OF YOUR PROPERTY TO EXPEDITE THE APPLICATION PROCESS.
If you call and get the message machine, the shelter is closed. If the phone is busy, please try again. Our animals are depending on it!
Please call first if you have a long drive to be sure this dog is still available & that the Shelter is open.
If you are looking for Cats or Kittens, we have a never ending supply. We just don't have time to enter them on the site. So, if you want one, come on down. You can adopt the pick of the litter, literally! We also have cats and kittens available for adoption at the Petco in Madera, California, as well as the Petsmart in Fresno, California.
$100 adoption fee for dogs and $60 adoption fee for cats includes spay/neuter and all vaccines. You can purchase a microchip for $10 with adoption and Madera county residents will need to pay an extra $8 license fee.
CASH, CHECK, DISCOVER, AMERICAN EXPRESS, AND MASTERCARD ACCEPTED (SOME SURCHARGES MAY APPLY).
All dogs and cats must be altered before they can come home with their new family. If the dog or cat is already altered they can go home the same day. Adopters who rent will need to have approval from their landlord to have a pet and home owners will need proof of home ownership for same day adoption, especially on Saturdays.

Madera County Animal Control is the only shelter in the county. We take in all types of animals and try very hard to place as many as possible.
We still have a very high euthanasia rate and hope this information on Save A pet will will help.
Most adoptions are from the shelter. Many also get adopted through our arrangement with PetsMart. They allow us to keep cats there all week for adoption and give us space on Sundays to bring in dogs. We also have Super Adoption events annually in Fresno with many other groups involved.
Fees are $100 for dogs which includes spay/neuter surgery, vaccines, and $10 microchipping.
Cats are $60 which includes the same as above.
We require a simple application and adoption agreement.
We serve all of Madera county. We're the only shelter in the county.
