Minerva's Story...
Sweet Minerva was found as an extremely matted stray and taken to Chicago Animal Control. While there, she was so scared, that she spent most of her time hiding under a blanket. People would pass by her cage and not even know that she was there!

St. Sophia's stepped in and say the potential and sweetness is this cute girl, and rescued her. Our first step -- get this baby groomed! After about 3 hours of shaving off mats, bathing, and brushing, Minerva is sporting a fashionable lion-cut and feels MUCH better. Now she's confident, loves people, and enjoys following you around. Her foster mom says she wants nothing more than to be with you and sit in your lap when she can.

Minerva is spayed, microchipped, negative for FIV/Leuk, treated for all parasites, and fully vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $40 through our Black Cat Fund. Minerva is currently in foster care. For more information on this sweet girl or to schedule a meet-and-greet, you can call or text St. Sophia's at 847-773-7639 , email us at, or check out our website at

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Minerva, a Addison Domestic Longhair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Longhair for sale in Addison, or seeking a Domestic Longhair cat from a breeder in Addison.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Addison already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Addison breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Longhair breeders who help with Domestic Longhair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Addison paves the way for another one to be saved.
