My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cora's adoption fee is $350.

WARNING: The following contains graphic and somewhat heartbreaking information. You may want to keep your tissues handy....

Hi there! My name is Cora and I am a female Shih-Tzu/ Pug mix. I weigh 10lbs and am approximately 5 years old. I am up to date on all my shots and have recently been spayed. I am hypo-allergenic and will require professional grooming every 4 to 6 weeks. By looking at me, you'd never guess my horrifying past. You see, although I am technically 5 or so years old, my life really only began a couple of months ago. It’s difficult to talk about, but here's my story.

For 5 long and lonely years of my life, I was neglected. No one gave me love, I was never bathed, never groomed and I was ignored- except when I was expected to breed. I've had a few litters in my life and still miss my pups...Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse, I was thrown out. I had outlived my usefulness. I couldn't have any more pups as I had an infection in my uterus and my fur was way too long and way too dirty and matted to feed my pups. So the humans threw me out in the middle of winter. I was so frightened. I began running and I kept running.... As I was running, I heard a car come up behind me. A lady stopped and corralled me. She asked a woman nearby if I belonged to her. They were both looking at me so strangely. I had a hard time even seeing them because my fur was so long and matted. I overheard one of them say "Is that a dog? You can barely tell the front from the back of this poor wee creature". My body was tired and I had given up. My nails were so long that my paws didn't even touch the ground anymore and my dew claws had grown so long that they wrapped around my legs and had started to grow into my paws. My fur was down to the ground and was caked with mud and feces.

To my surprise, the lady who was close by took me in. She had a special friend bath me and shave off all of my fur. I felt SO much better. She cared for me and gave me a warm bed to sleep in, food and LOVE. She saved my life and I will never forget her! I needed expensive medical care though and my guardian angel knew that she needed help with this. She contacted Tiny Paws and they took me in, took care of all my medical needs and found me a loving foster home...

I can't believe how grand life can be! Playing with squeaky toys (and I LOVE my plushy squeaky toys!!), playing in a fully fenced yard and going for nice little walks with my foster family! Best of all, my foster family lets me sleep with them and we all snuggle down in their cushy bed. I live with three foster siblings, but truth be told... I'm a bit of a princess and would happily be the only dog in your life (I love to have the attention from my humans all to myself!) I am working on the whole "potty training" thing...I've never had to do this before, so I still have a couple of accidents here and there, but I'm a quick study! I'll get the hang of it.

I like lots of different humans, but little children are a bit frightening- they move around so quickly and are so loud! It’s a bit much for me. My idea of a good time? Snuggling up in a nice cozy dog bed, while we watch t.v. or sitting by the fire together. I don't need to sit on you or be smothered with affection- I just want to be WITH you...

So now I feel ready to start my life with my forever family. I've left my negative baggage behind me and am looking for a family to call my own. If you're willing to give me a chance, I will show you how much you mean to me. I promise to be your faithful little companion and fill your days with loyalty and love.

P.S. Just wait and see how gorgeous I'll be when all my fur grows in too! Please contact Tiny Paws Dog Rescue for more information on me. You won't be sorry!
