SAMPSON's Story...
Sampson was rescued with more than one large wound on his back – probably from a raccoon attack. He's almost 14 lbs. of pure love! He is certainly a Maine Coon with a big beautiful head and huge paws! This gentle giant wants nothing more than to be around people and to be loved. Sampson could care less about other cats or dogs. People are his favorite companions and he wants to be with them—always! He likes to be the center of attention and is often underfoot, so watch your steps. Any home would be super lucky to have this guy in their care. He is FIV+ but he is hearty, healthy and happy and will continue to be in your careful care and regular vet checks. He could be a solo pet or live with other kitties or a calm dog. He likely won't mind kids who appreciate him. He adores being rubbed and loved, who doesn't? We estimate he was born in February of 2011. Bio# 3329 DJ

About Our Rescue Group...
ICRA is an all volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to reducing the suffering of the abandoned cat population of Alameda and Oakland, and to educate people to their plight. We provide foster homes for our rescues until we can place them into loving homes through our adoption program. On a limited basis, we humanely trap feral cats in order to spay/neuter them before releasing them back to their colonies. Our goal is to expand our program for maintaining cat colonies in our communities. To make this expansion possible, we need more volunteers.
Come Meet Our Pets...
Adoptions are hosted at PETCO, 2310 S. Shore Center, in Alameda's South Shore Center, every Saturday from —
11 am to 4:00 pm

No cats show on major holiday weekends.

Enter the store, head to the right past the registers and straight ahead to the far wall of the store. There is a door there where you will find our cats.

Our Adoption Process...
Potential adopters pick out a cat or kitten and fill out an application.
There will be a short interview with one of our volunteers. Adoptions do not happen the same day. We will arrange a time to visit your home and the foster parents and a volunteer will meet there. Our adoption fee structure is:

  • Cats and kittens (six months to 8 years): $100
  • Cats (over 8 years): $75
  • Two cats: Full amount for the higher amount cat, half amount for the lower amount cat

    For example: a kitten and an adult would be: $100 + $50 = $150

Prior to Adoption all cats and kittens are:

  • Spayed or neutered
  • FeLV and FIV tested
  • FVRCP vaccinated
  • De-wormed, and
  • Treated for fleas with Advantage or Frontline
We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
