Penelope's Story...
Hello! My name is Penelope. I am a 1-year-old black domestic short hair. Volunteers at START II rescued my litter of kittens and me from the streets of Paterson. At the shelter, I was able to nurse my kittens while receiving plenty of fresh food and water. Now that all my kittens have been adopted, I can put motherhood behind me. I love to play! In fact, I will play with anything from toy mice to a piece of clean litter. It will be important for my new fur-ever home to provide me with plenty of toys. I also love human companionship. When volunteers walk up to my cage, I immediately begin purring, anticipating cheek scratches that I crave. I am spayed, parasite-free, current on my vaccinations, and tested negative for FIV and Feline Leukemia

If you are interested in meeting me come visit me at Petsmart located at 155 East Route 59 in Nanuet, NY on Saturday 12 pm - 4 pm and Sunday 12 am to 4 pm. Please e-mail startkayne@gmail.com or call 201-797-8861 for more information.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Penelope, a Elmwood Park Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Elmwood Park, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Elmwood Park.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Elmwood Park already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Elmwood Park breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Elmwood Park paves the way for another one to be saved.
