My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gus is a sweet dog who loves everyone he meets. His favourite thing to do is snuggle with us on the couch but he also likes playing with other dogs. He is a great size at just over 40 lbs and considers himself a lap dog. He would make an excellent family pet with or without another dog, and is wonderful around our small children. He loves playing outside and chewing on dog toys. He is happy when someone is home with him and likes to be doing whatever you like to do. Gus is a young dog approximately a year old.

Here is what else his foster family had to say:

Gus is still a young dog and although he is well behaved for his age, he will need someone that is willing to continue with his training. In the short time he has been with us he has shown himself to be very eager to please and when he is doing something you don't want him to do, he responds immediately. He has never tried to take anything off the counter and he has mostly learned what toys are his to play with and which toys are the kids. Although he appears to have had no formal training prior to his coming into our care, we are working with him and currently teaching him to sit on command and to stay.

Gus is fully house trained and is also crate trained. We put him in his crate whenever we go out and to sleep at night. He goes right in and settles nicely. He walks very nicely on leash and does not bark at people or other dogs. When we call his name, his recall is great. He is also very quiet in the home. If you left the door wide open he would go through it but he seems pretty good about staying back when we ask him to stay.

He has been friendly with everyone he has met and loves other dogs. He really enjoys playing with his foster brother. He rides nicely in the car. We have never had him around cats but I don't see it as a problem as he doesn't appear to be prey driven. He does have lots of puppy energy during the day but at night he loves to just lie around and enjoy cuddling on the couch or watching tv with us.

Gus would fit in well to just about any family situation. He would be fine with another dog or as the only dog in the home. He would be great with children and would make a wonderful family companion.

If you would like to know more about making Gus a part of your family, please submit an application for consideration.
