3/1/13 Millie is a sweet heart that was an owned dog and her owners moved away and left her, along w/ her companion Billy and a younger dog, who we think may be Millie's puppy, named Willie. Once their family moved away, they stayed at the house until they got too hungry. Then Millie, being the brave one, ventured across a 4 lane highway to a convenience store nearby. This began a several month long adventure, where she crossed that highway several times each day. It wasn't long before Billy and Willy began to follow her lead. The ladies at the store would feed them whatever food they had left at the end of each day - usually corn dogs and biscuits and gravy - hence Millie's large girth. Millie is smart. She would sit on the other side of the highway and look both directions, waiting until it was clear to cross. But we know it was just a matter of time before she stepped out too soon or forgot to look first. This arrangement was working out ok for Millie and the boys, until the man who lives behind the store decided it would be fun to use them as target practice. When this started up, the ladies at the store called me, and told me about Millie, Willy, and Billy (we call them the hillbilly family). We went that day and got them. Millie is a wonderful, loving, and friendly girl. She tested negative for heartworms. She gets along great with other dogs and will make an excellent companion for any family situation. She is currently in a foster home where she is living with several other fister dogs of various ages and sizes and she is fine with them. She is good with the kids in the home and is now totally housetrained. We believe Millie is about 3 years old. She is nice and calm but friendly and affectionate at the same time. She is fairly low key and is a gentle spirit- never jumping up on people or making a nuisance of herself. Millie is currently located in Arkansas and will be transported to the northeast once adopted. For more info, email kelley.aasr@gmail.com

Rescue Group Info...
Adopt-A-Stray Rescue was founded in Jan. 2010 by Kelley Prichard. Kelley saw a need for the unwanted pets at the local Animal Control to be given a chance at life. Adopt-A-Stray is a non profit (pending) Rescue group. We routinely pull dogs (and sometimes cats) from the euthanasia list at our local kill shelter. We also take in strays and owner surrenders as space/resources permit. Most of our available pets are located in ARkansas and are transported to the northeast once they are adopted or have a foster home to go to. The transporters we use most often are Got Orphans Transport (www.gotransporters.com) and Alpha Dog Transport (www.alphadogtransport.com). All pets are given age appropriate vaccinations and are seen by our vet prior to going to their new homes. Please email for more info on our adoption procedures.
Call for an appointment. Since we dont have a physical shelter, it is important that you call or email before trying to meet the pets. We have most of them in foster homes, some here in Arkansas and some in the Northeast.
I required that all pets in the home are current on veterinary care - this includes vaccinations and heartworm prevention, minimum.
I require that every pet in the home (ok, maybe not fish and reptiles) be spayed/neutered unless there is a valid medical reason not to.
I have an adoption application and contract for each pet.
My adoption fee varies, depending on what type of pet, breed, age, and medical condition.
We adopt mostly to the New England states, but also sometimes adopt locally in the state of Arkansas. I am non descriminatory about location of adopters, I am more concerned with the quality of the home for the pet. Transport can be arranged to almost anywher in the US.
