My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Where Did He Come From? Benny was rescued from a rural shelter.

Age/Weight? He is approx. 5 months old as of the end of February and is about 15 lbs. He is thought to be a Beagle/Cavalier King Charles mix.

Personality? Benny is a little gem! He is so sweet, loving and smart. He was very sacred in the shelter but now in his foster home, he is just thriving. He learned his name in 5 minutes, comes when called, loves to be on your lap, goes in his crate without issue and loves to follow his foster around the home. He will be a great boy for a lucky person or family.

Perfect Home? We’d love to see Benny go to a home where folks are around more than gone. He just loves his people so much. Whoever does adopt him needs to remember he is still a puppy and still learning every day. We always recommend new puppy owners to attend basic training classes with their dog. Please note – Benny has a skin issue that is being treated. Because of his skin issue, he has to go in for medicated dips (baths) every 2 weeks for 12 weeks. He likely won’t be able to be neutered until after he’s completed his medicated dips but his adoption fee of $275 would include the cost of his neuter as long as he’s taken to our vet for neuter. Adopters will have to sign a sterilization agreement at the time of adoption agreeing to this. Also note, because we put our dogs that come from shelters in a 2 week quarantine (to ensure they aren’t going to get sick from something they’ve picked up from a shelter), the soonest he will be adopted out is March 16, 2017.

Adoption Process? Our adoption process starts off with you completing a pre-adoption survey. Once we receive the on-line survey and if we think it would be a good fit for the animal, we will schedule a meet-n-greet with the pet. Our process does also involve a home visit so the pet can meet all family members, including other pets to ensure everyone will get along. It may sound involved but this process can normally be accomplished in a few days, depending on the schedules of the foster parent and prospective adopter.
