Gracie-Prison Dog's Story...
Meet Gracie! She's a 2 year old Black Lab mix that was taken in by a family that found her as a stray. They couldn't keep her because they already had too many pets. Gracie absolutely loves people but she didn't like the other pets that belonged to the family that found her. She's a friendly active girl that positively loves attention. Please stop by and see if Gracie is the dog for you. You may have just found your new BFF.

Gracie has been selected to be one of Friendship's Prison Dogs. This Prison Dog will be trained in obedience, basic commands, manners and leash training. Gracie will remain at the prison between 8-12 weeks. Once she returns, she will be a proud trained Prison Graduate. Gracie left for training at the beginning of April.

If you are interested in adopting Gracie, adoption applications are now being accepted. They can be downloaded at but must be hand delivered to Friendship. If you have any questions please call the shelter at 440-322-4321. A limited amount of adoption apps are taken on each Prison Dog.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Gracie-Prison Dog, a Elyria Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Elyria, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Elyria.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Elyria already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Elyria breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Elyria paves the way for another one to be saved.
