My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

jumping dog

Our foster dogs live as family members in the foster home until chosen for adoption.

This is Benny .

My story begins back in 2006, when at about a year old, I was brought to the shelter. The details around my puppyhood are hazy, so I am not quite sure how I got there, but it wasn’t long before I was adopted by a very nice man and he loved me for the next six years. In February of 2012, he got sick and had to be hospitalized, so he had friends bring my back to the shelter. It’s a nice place, but I can’t wait to get back into a home.

While at the shelter it was discovered that I had heartworms, a blood disease that is curable if treated. Luckily, Sheltered Paws took me under their care, got the medicine I needed, got me healthy again and took good care of me.

Even though I will be turning eight years old this year, I am still very active and looking for a family to share my love with. I weigh about 83 pounds right now, am a good eater, and want to be right next to you giving kisses and letting you pet my soft coat. I get along great with other dogs, I have been around cats too and do fine, but human love is my favorite. I will go into my crate, but prefer to be out with you. Change is kind of scary at my age, but give me a schedule to follow and some time to adjust and I will know just what to do. My foster mom says I have the most handsome smile and the sweetest personality. I would love to meet you and tell you more about me. Contact my foster mom for more info…

Oh and I really would like to have a dog friend too, I get a little nervous when I am alone, but as long as I have a buddy I'm OK. I know my basic commands. I'm a handsome young dog my foster mom says and she says I will have a forever home soon!

Thanks for considering a rescue dog!!
