Jolie's Story...
Jolie is a 14 year old umbrella cockatoo. She came into rescue with a prolapsed cloaca that required immediate surgery. The surgery went really well and she has been given a clean bill of health! Jolie is small for a U2. She loves to be in the same room as her family, even if she is just hanging out on her cage. She will call for you when she cannot see you, but quiets down when she realizes where you are. We are working on getting her to step up, but she absolutely loves to have her head scratched and will press her face against the cage to get some scratches. She will also accept scratches when she is outside of her cage. She has a very sweet personality and seems to prefer men, but is happy with either men or women. She has a large vocabulary and loves to say "Hi Jolie!" in the morning when her cage is uncovered. She is eating a diet of pellets and seeds, and we are slowly decreasing the amount of seeds and introducing healthy additions, such as vegetables, fruits and nuts. She loves apples and bananas! She does not seem to mind other birds, cats, or dogs. She is a great bird who would make a wonderful companion for a very lucky person!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Jolie, a Tampa Cockatoo was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Cockatoo for sale in Tampa, or seeking a Cockatoo from a breeder in Tampa.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Tampa already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Tampa breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Cockatoo breeders who help with Cockatoo rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Tampa paves the way for another one to be saved.
