My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dougie is a wonderful boy. He seems wise beyond his 2 years. He is a gentle dog who is very calm and quiet in the home but once he has an opportunity to get outside and play, he opens up and has a great time. Dougie is currently living in an apartment with no issues but of course would be best in a home where he was walked regularly but also where he had a back yard to play in. He would do well in a family with respectful children of any age. Dougie currently weighs just over 60 lbs.

Here is what else his foster family had to say:

Dougie is a real lover. He is in good health and his coat looks lovely. Due to the way he behaves in the home you would think he is much older but in fact he still has a lot of puppy in him so he could be even younger than 2 years. He appears to have had some basic training such as sit and stay (somewhat). He is leash trained and even knows to sit nicely when you bring his leash out to go. He is fully house trained and has not had any accidents in the home. We have crate trained him and do put him in his crate when we are out of the house but at night he sleeps beside our bed with no problems. He doesn't like to be crated but tolerates it well. He never bolts out the door and instead is always a perfect gentleman. He is very quiet in the home and never barks at anything. He has gotten into a couple things when left uncrated on his own but we think it was just from boredom. With plenty of intelligent toys to play with or another friendly dog in the home to keep him company during the day, he would be fine.

Dougie loves people of all ages and although he is a bit shy when first meeting strangers, he does enjoy meeting new people and is friendly with everyone. The only time we saw any mild aggression was when someone came into our home by mistake and even then he only growled but was fine the minute we told him it was okay. He was a good boy! Dougie is also great with other pets including cats but he will chase squirrels.

I believe Dougie would do well in just about any environment as long as there were people that loved him. As mentioned above, he would be fine in an apartment as long as there was an area nearby where he could get a good run each day and of course a good daily walk. He loves being with his people and is a very loyal and loving companion. A beautiful dog who continues to excel at being a great friend. I think any family would enjoy him and would fall in love pretty quickly with this handsome, wonderful dog.

If you think Dougie would be a good fit for your family, please submit an application for consideration.
