Opie is a sweet, affectionate, outgoing, and self-confident kitty who is not ashamed to come right over to you and request attention by rubbing up against you. Opie loves being pet and communicates his happiness at being pet with lots of purring. Opie doesn't care if he's snuggled on your lap or sprawled out on the floor beside you, as long as he's being pet, he's happy!
Opie is also a smart, fun, high-energy cat who will keep his new family entertained with his athletic feats. He leaps through the air in pursuit of wand toys and sometimes we suspect he leaps through the air just for the pure joy of it! Opie especially enjoys playing with fabric wand toys and if you tire before he does there is no need to worry. Simply hang the fabric wand toy over a kitty condo so it dangles in a tantalizing manner and watch Opie entertain himself for a long time as he bats it, bites it, and finally pulls it down so he can victoriously run off with it in his mouth! Opie also likes chasing balls across the room! It's especially humorous to play with Opie on a linoleum or tile floor because he'll slip and slide all over the place if there's a toy that must be pursued and captured! He is very vigilant when it comes to chasing toys; he takes this responsibility very seriously.
Other Opie fun facts: he eats with gusto and seems to enjoy the companionship of other friendly kitties.
Opie is a great all around cat and would make a wonderful addition to just about any type of home. Don't let this handsome boy get away…fill out an application for him today - www.azrescue.org.

RESCUE is a registered non-profit volunteer based animal rescue organization located in Maricopa County. RESCUE has no central facility and is volunteer run. Our focus is on the "kill lists." We were founded in 1995, and with the support of our volunteers and our community, we have found homes for over 9,000 dogs and cats. Our motto is for every animal adopted, we are back to rescue another. We depend on the community for our support and offer a variety of satisfying ways for you to get involved in our mission to end the killing of the orphaned dogs and cats. Please consider adopting, volunteering or donating.
We do not have a shelter. We are at various special events around the valley. Please see our Upcoming Events section on our website for further information. We look forward to meeting you and introducing you to some of our wonderful animals.
Fill out an online application, have an interview with a Matchmaker, if we are in philosophical alignment, set up a meet and greet and if all goes well finalize the adoption. Our service fee for dogs is $150 and $125 for cats. All our dogs and cats are spayed and neutered prior to adoption.
