Emma's Story...
Emma is an adorable 8 year old ShihTzu that entered foster care with her littermate, Riley. She is a very affectionate little pudge that loves to lay in bed and watch TV. It would be important to her to be adopted with her sister. Their previous owners are quite ill and can no longer care for them. They are very well behaved and know all the basic commands. They are used to traveling with their previous owners and love to ride in the car and play with their toys. They love their dog beds and come morning you will always find their beds full of the toys they decided they need to sleep with. Emma's foster mom swears she can talk and says "mom" and 'mamma." She is just as cute as a button in her puppy cut. She has a lot of personality! She is up-to-date on all of her shots and just had her 6 month heartworm preventative. Emma is an absolute riot. She is very bossy and will talk and talk until you figure out what it is she wants. She is so funny her foster family loves to get her going. She even stamps her feet. She is a total character that is just so much fun to be with.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Emma, a Saint Louis Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in Saint Louis, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Saint Louis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Saint Louis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Saint Louis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Saint Louis paves the way for another one to be saved.
