Riley's Story...
Riley is an adorable little blond ShihTzu that came into foster care with her sister, Emma. They are 8 years old and have always been together so an adopter that could adopt both of them together would be important to them. She is very playful and loves all of her toys. She will take her toys to bed with her - there is hardly room for her. She is very affectionate and loves to be held. She knows all the basic commands and loves to go bye bye. She is used to traveling with her pervious owners. Her previous owners are quite ill and can no longer care for Riley and Emma. She is spayed and all her shots are up-to-date and she just had her 6 month heartworm preventative. They are both housebroken and walk well on a leash. They love everyoe and are just so cute in their puppy cut. Her foster mom says that these two little cuddle bugs are going to be hard to part with! Riley is just like a doll. She is just so cute she doesn't look real. She knows her toys by name and will get what you ask her for. She will just walk around the house with her toy in her mouth for hours. She is such a little clown. Anyone who meets her can't help but fall in love with her.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Riley, a Saint Louis Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in Saint Louis, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Saint Louis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Saint Louis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Saint Louis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Saint Louis paves the way for another one to be saved.
