Meet Finch, a 7 month old Chihuahua mix puppy. We think he is mixed with Italian Greyhound. He weighs 9 lbs, and is happy-go-lucky fast and fun one minute, and quiet sleepy snuggle pup the next. He is long legged, with a skinny sleek tail that curls into a big Oh over his back, and white tip at the tail's very end. He is great in the car. Finch has picked up the house training quickly and is pee pad trained. Finch absolutely adores bedtime and dives under the covers to find a nice warm spot. Although he is nervous at first with new dogs, he quickly joined in and plays well with other dogs, tearing around the back yard in the favorite game of "chase me then i chase you". Finch is learning but will need strong alpha hierarchy in his new family or he will revert to being his own boss. He is learning that barking, and growling is not acceptable .Finch and foster sister Hallie have a wrestling match every morning. We have not tested him on kids, but he would likely be fine with kids 6 and up. He is very good with the foster's dog-tolerant cat. Finch is neutered, microchipped and up to date on his shots. His adoption fee is $300
All of our dogs are in private volunteer foster homes, and as such these individuals are most qualified to answer any questions regarding the dog.
We do not have a central shelter or kennel locations - you must make a private one-on-one meet and greet appointment with each individual dog at the foster family's convenience. To protect our foster families' privacy, we must have an APPROVED adoption application on file before we release their contact information.
All of our dogs are fixed (spayed/neutered) and up to date on shots. We have a 2 week foster-to-adopt period to make sure the dog is a fit for your family. Adoption fees vary from dog-to-dog.
Please note that an approved application DOES NOT guarantee that the dog will be placed with you. The final decision rests with our fosters as they know the dogs the best, and please be aware that there may be other applicants interested in the same dog. We continue accepting applications on a dog until the dog is with the new adoptive family in their home.

Rescue Group Info...
Second Chance Dog Rescue was formed to fulfill a desperate need in the community to --Rescue, Rehabilitate & Re-home-- homeless dogs from families who can no longer take care of their animals due to financial distress, and from over-crowded local shelters.
Our program is based on foster care, and all rescued dogs spend their first days at a loving foster home where they receive personalized care. As part of our program, we ensure that all dogs have their shots, are spayed or neutered, and have been re-socialized by their foster family. In addition, Second Chance Dog Rescue provides support for potential new owners and monitors progress for both new pet parents and their adopted dogs. This helps guarantee that our dogs go to good, loving homes.
Our foster parents schedule one on one meetings with potential owners and provide a personalized adoption experience.
We require a foster questionnaire to be completed before a scheduled meeting. Then, if interested in our dog, a foster to adopt contract is completed with a two week trial period. An adoption fee is required. After the two week foster period, we conduct a home visit and complete the adoption contract.
