Valentine is available for adoption through Colorado Canine Rescue, a nonprofit dog rescue located in the Denver area. She is about a year old and came to us from NM where she was found by a police officer on the side of a road with her sister. Both had been hit by a car. The shelter originally said she would need to have her leg amputated, but the wonderful veterinarian at Downtown Animal Care Clinic was able to repair it by placing a plate in it. The plate will need to removed in a few months after everything is completely healed, but all of her care is already paid for and covered at this vet! She will have NO special considerations in her future life after she is completely healed!!
Her name is Valentine because she came to us on Valentine's Day and is the biggest ball of love you will ever meet. She is an overall GREAT dog and will be the perfect companion dog for someone who wants a little buddy by their side. She absolutely adores humans of all kinds and will go around saying hello to everyone around her. She has endless amounts of kisses to give. She is very loyal and really wants to be close to her human. She does cry a little when left at home at first, but stops very quickly. She is a very happy girl and her little tail is always wagging. She loves hanging around the backyard, playing with her toys or snuggling up close to her human. She does great with her other foster brothers and loves to play tug o' war with them. We have not seen her around cats or kids, but suspect that she will do fine.
Since she has been injured and is rehabbing, we are monitoring her exercise very closely and are just starting to see her true energy level. We think she will be a medium energy level dog and will love to have a backyard (with a 6 foot fence) and another playful dog to romp and play with. She will probably be able to match her owner's energy level with walks/jogs/hikes, but will need a walk a day. She is potty trained in her foster home's house, but will need to get the routine of her new forever home.
If you are interested in adopting Val, please submit an adoption application located on our website, www.coloradocaninerescue.org, and we will contact you as soon as we receive it. We are asking for a $100 adoption donation for Val. She has been spayed, up to date on her vaccinations, and microchipped.
