Chance's Story...
Chance is a 4 year old, neutered male Aussie with a full tail. He is black and white and fuzzy all over. You will want to sink your hands into his soft coat and snuggle this friendly guy. He loves kids (he follows his foster family kids around) and is great with other dogs (he wrestles with his young housemates and is respectful of the older crabbier dogs in the house). Chance is calm in the house and quiet in his crate. He is deaf, so his new family must be willing to learn to communicate with him by hand signals. His foster family is teaching him new hand signals and is housetraining him. Chance came to Aussie Rescue of MN as an outside farm dog that was chasing cars and trains and was not good with poultry. At his foster home he isn’t allowed such activities but he definitely shows a lot of chase instinct toward birds flying overhead and vehicles in the driveway. Chance would need to be in a home with a fenced yard or where he is kept on leash. He walks well on a leash and would most likely be great at a dog park with other dogs. He will chase the cats in his foster home only if they run but does nothing but sniff them when he gets to them. Chance is a calm, adaptable and friendly dog.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Chance, a Elk River Australian Shepherd dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Australian Shepherd for sale in Elk River, or seeking a Australian Shepherd dog from a breeder in Elk River.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Elk River already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Elk River breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Australian Shepherd breeders who help with Australian Shepherd rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Elk River paves the way for another one to be saved.
