Here is what else his foster mom had to say:
Jake is a very smart boy. He knows his basic commands such as "sit", "down" and "stay" and will even "shake a paw". His recall is wonderful and he comes whenever I call him. He is fully house trained and very good about letting me know when he needs to go out. I was trying to crate train him when I was away at work but every day I would come home he was out of the crate. Eventually as he never did anything wrong, I didn't worry about it. I don't feel he needs to be crated as he is so well behaved in the home. When I get home from work he is sitting waiting for me and asks to go out straight away (he obviously knows to hold it). He does not chew on anything he shouldn't, doesn't counter surf and even when I am eating he will go lie down as told.
Jake really loves my cat Smudge and often tries to give the cat his toys, his treats, etc. I would say he was definitely raised with cats and loves them. I think he loves the cat more than me! He just loves to play ball in the yard and go for walks. It is a little difficult for me to take him on long walks so he is very happy with shorter ones (still from my fall). He does need more work with leash training as he has a tendency to pull to sniff at things. He would do best with a daily walk and nice backyard to play in.
Jake loves affection and attention. He really enjoys being brushed and would let you brush him all day if you wanted to. He is really a laid back, happy dog. He is very quiet in the home and even when I leave for work each day he never makes a peep. He is playful and loves to carry around his skunk toy. He would be fine left alone in the home for a normal working day but would need a family that would include him as a valuable member. He is just a big cuddly teddy bear who would do well with some refreshers in his training but overall is a wonderful boy.
If you think Jake would be a good choice for your family, please submit an application for consideration.
