My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sparky has been with us for a long time and this is the first time I have listed him for adoption. However I think he might do better in a more stable, less hectic home where there is less dogs. Here at PomRescue.com, we have fosters coming and going so there are always adjustments to be made. Sparky is very sensitive and needs security and permanence for his peace of mind. When Sparky came to us he had been living in a home of smokers and had trouble breathing. He was also very anxious and afraid of men. He would wince and pull away when you would pet him. Living in a smoke free and carpet-less home has totally cleared up the breathing troubles and he is great with my son and husband so I think he would do well in a home that has kind and gentle men. Sparky was born with a deformed back leg. The part below the ‘knee’ was removed when he was a puppy. His sable, beautiful, long fur covers the partial leg and few people even notice that he has three paws. Sparky’s worst feature is that when he gets nervous or excited he barks. It is not loud and sounds a lot like a ‘quack’. He does know the command ‘quiet’, but sometimes he just cannot help himself. He is not just an endless barker, but just gets caught up in the excitement sometimes. Sparky would make a good dog for a home that does not have much of a yard. Because he cannot do steps, and moves slowly, going outside can be difficult for him. He wears a male wrap in the house because of this and he is still a ‘leg lifter’. This is not a problem here as we have several males that wear the wraps. This is very convenient for someone that does not want to have to take him out to walk. Sparky needs to live inside with his person and be close to them. He would be so miserable shut away from them. The three main things to think about if you are considering Sparky: the barking, the belly wrap and he has three paws. If you cannot handle these, please do not inquire about Sparky. He is a sweet soul and deserves to be loved just like he is. If you think these could be changed, please rethink. He has been with me a while and I can almost guarantee that they will not. But if you want a Small(around 7 lbs)doll baby that you could push around in a dog stroller or ride in the car with you and just spoil rotten, he just might be a match for you. Email us for an application.
Adoption application, adoption fee(175.), home visit, Vet reference and 2 personal references are required. Applicant must be 25 or older.
