Samantha's Story...
This is Samantha, her sister Maxi was already adopted, leaving Sam to find her forever home. These big, beautiful ladies were surrendered to the shelter because their owner moved and could not bring them along. Both girls are likely between 5-8 years old and appear to be some sort of Lab, Shepherd, Pit Bull mixes.

Samantha weighs in around 58 pounds and has a caramel-colored coat with cream accents. She is a little reserved but will really open up once comfortable with her surroundings. Samantha has a little bit of a rash on her hind-end due to a flea allergy, but is currently on the mend. She was a bit shy when meeting other dogs, but will likely open up once she's settled.

Act quickly to adopt Samantha. Pets at this Shelter may be held for only a short time.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Samantha, a Philadelphia Retriever (Unknown Type)/Shepherd (Unknown Type) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Retriever (Unknown Type)/Shepherd (Unknown Type) for sale in Philadelphia, or seeking a Retriever (Unknown Type)/Shepherd (Unknown Type) dog from a breeder in Philadelphia.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Philadelphia already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Philadelphia breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Retriever (Unknown Type)/Shepherd (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Retriever (Unknown Type)/Shepherd (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Philadelphia paves the way for another one to be saved.
