Tessa (foster care)'s Story...
Hi everyone! This sweet, doe-eyed girl is Tessa (A18894658)! She has long legs and a pretty caramel-colored coat, she could pass for a deer but really she's just an amazing dog. Tessa is about 1-2 years old and she's medium-sized at just around 48 pounds. Since she's on the younger side, she is an active girl who loves to use those long legs to run! She would make a great running, hiking partner, and she'd love to have a back yard to run around in and play a good game of fetch.

Tessa is a sweet, affectionate girl who loves to try to climb into your lap for pets. While this is very cute and it is hard to resist, her pen pals are working to teach her how to appropriately greet people and jumping up is just not polite. She is a smart girl and is learning quickly! She loves treats and she is learning to sit nicely for them. She also takes treats very gently. Tessa is also learning "touch", "come", and "find it" commands.

Tessa came to ACCT as a stray on January 12th. The shelter can be a stressful environment for any animal but it can be more difficult for some to cope with. Tessa is very stressed and having a hard time adjusting. Tessa is scared and unsure of her surroundings. She is urgently looking for a foster or adoptive home where someone will look past her current stressed state and see her wonderful potential. she will need to be given the time, patience, and understanding needed to decompress and get back to just being a dog again. In return, she will give you all the love, trust, and companionship she has to offer. If you think Tessa could be a good fit for you, please stop by the shelter to meet her or email her pen pals at mandy.aly.b@gmail.com and laxdeexla@gmail.com for more information. Tessa should meet any dogs she may be living with to make sure they can be great friends and should meet any children under 10. If you have cats, please let us know so she can be cat tested!

Act quickly to adopt Tessa (foster care). Pets at this Shelter may be held for only a short time.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Tessa (foster care), a Philadelphia Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/Pit Bull Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/Pit Bull Terrier for sale in Philadelphia, or seeking a Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/Pit Bull Terrier dog from a breeder in Philadelphia.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Philadelphia already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Philadelphia breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/Pit Bull Terrier breeders who help with Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium)/Pit Bull Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Philadelphia paves the way for another one to be saved.
