Benny Needs A Foster or Forever Home
My name is Benny and I am a dashing collie mix looking for the right home. I am the perfect size at about 40 pounds and am probably about 3-4 years old. As with all intelligent herding breeds, I like to be busy, so I would prefer an active family who can take me running or hiking, and who won’t expect me to wait alone all day long for them to come home. After my time in an overcrowded MD shelter, I have decided that I’m not a big lover of crates. What I really love is to hang out outside in a fenced-in yard with my human and dog friends.
I am shy at first, so don’t expect me to jump up on you and plant a kiss on your face. But I am very loyal and loving once I learn to trust you, and will enjoy as many ear and butt scratches and belly rubs as you can give. In my foster home, I have been learning how to walk well on a leash and how to play less roughly with other dogs. My perfect pet companion would be a calm and confident older dog who would not be pushy with me, and who would let me take his place doing all those fun, strenuous outings with the humans. My perfect humans would have a lot of patience and would be willing to work with me to build up my comfort level with new people and situations. And since they would want to maintain my pretty-boy good looks, they would need to brush me on a regular basis like any collie deserves. No young children please. I am an adult only home. Check out my video of how happy I get when I see it's time to go outside!
Benny is currently in a paid 'board and train' situation, and needs a foster home. If you think you offer that to Benny, please apply ASAP.
My adoption fee is $300, which covers the cost of routine vetting, rabies and distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, spay/neuter surgery, heartworm testing, my microchip, monthly heartworm prevention, monthly flea/tick prevention, and any transport costs if applicable.
If you can't adopt me, consider sponsoring my care and being a rescue angel. Click on the DONATE button below and chip in what you can. Your donation is tax deductible and helps us save more lives!

Rescue Group Info...
A Little History... Mutts Matter Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non profit, all volunteer based organization, with combined rescue experience of over 15 years. We work in conjunction with shelters and other organizations to help save animals on death row, the strays on the street, or ones in unsafe living conditions. We adopt in the DC, VA, and MD areas, with a few exception out of the tri-state area depending on the dog and situation. We are driven by love, compassion, and hope.
All of our rescues enter their new home spayed or neutered, up to date on all shots, and are micro-chipped. If we take a dog into our rescue, we do our very best to ensure that they are healthy before going to their new “furever”home. With enough hard work and dedication, we hope to be able to empty the shelters one day soon.
At adoption events posted on our events page:
We require you to fill out an adoption application on our website at www.muttsmatterrescue.com
The application will ask for both a vet and personal reference. Both will need to be verified. After those are checked, a pre-screener contacts you to discuss your application.
Once that is complete, they screener decides if they are recommended for a home visit. If the home visit goes well and they are approved to adopt, then they can meet the dog.
Our adoption fee includes the cost of routine vetting, spay/neuter, and microchipping.
