Callie's Story...
Adopted 7/29/13

Callie, born around July/August 2012

“I know where to go when I am hurt and dying. I found my foster home just before Christmas 2012 and was protected by a very large Great Pyrenees dog until her owner found me cowering by a tire under the car. That dog protected me all day until someone came home. The family gave me food which I had not had in quite some time, a nice drink of water, and a warm fireplace to relax next to for warmth and to dry off. I have been eating well ever since and don’t have to worry about anything hurting me ever again!

I get to play with the cats and dogs in the house too! Life doesn’t get any better than this, unless I am with you and get 100% of the attention. I love to play with feathers, laser lights, and dust bunnies. Basically, anything and everything is mine and I will have you laughing until your stomach hurts. I jump and dart, run and fly. I once got in a bit of trouble when I tore up a box of tissues on the nightstand. Ooops…my bad. But I had such a great time and the snow storm I created was the absolute best!

I love to sleep on the bed at night next to my foster mom. I will cuddle up next to her and purr. I hope she knows that I am very grateful for her rescuing me and saving my life. She will scratch my back, neck, chin and chest. But it’s on like donkey kong if she rubs my tummy! I sometimes get a bit carried away. But hey…I’m a kitten right!!

I even have a cat tree that I can sit in to look at the birds outside (and the bad things that can’t get me anymore). I use the litter box ALL the time and have all my shots. I also get some drops on my back every month. They say it is for ticks and fleas. I had to go to the doctor and they did some surgery that won’t let me have babies. So basically, I am ready for action and a great family of my own!

I really want that special forever home where I can play with kids like I do now. I don’t care if there are other dogs or cats either. I get along with very big dogs and small dogs. But I would also like to have some personal attention too. I know that home is out there somewhere.”

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Callie, a Capshaw Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Capshaw, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Capshaw.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Capshaw already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Capshaw breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Capshaw paves the way for another one to be saved.
