Cameron is a stunning estimated 4 year old English Setter. His weight fluctuates from 62-65 lbs. He was found as a stray by some kind ladies who took him in to find him safety. We thought he had found the perfect home but it was decided the family who had him did not want to take the time to exercise him and work with him on some bad typical new dog behaviors such as lounging on furniture and swiping things off the counter which can easily be corrected. He walks fine on leash but will pull if he sees a bird, squirrel, outdoor cat that he wants to check out more.

He is very good with other dogs of all sizes boys and girls, good with all people and is good with children. He is very affectionate and will paw at you for continued pets. Cameron will chase cats and is best to go to a home without cats. He is also very bird driven. Cameron is a mellow guy inside the home but is a breed that needs a dedicated family who will exercise him daily. Although they are pretty lazy indoors they need outdoor activities as well. He wanders around the yard and likes to explore and sniff at new things. He would do real well with a home that has a fenced yard for him to romp around in. He loves being outdoors as well as indoors with his family. English Setters are sensitive to correction and they do not like to make the same mistake over and over. Consistent training and exercise is important.

Although he is not high energy, he will need activities and exercise. We welcome all adopters but prefer someone experienced with breeds that have high energy/ high prey drive instincts.

Cameron was moved into boarding because we currently do not have any foster homes avl. If you are interested in fostering or adopting Cameron please apply or email us at bonniebluerescue@gmail.com

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Cameron (pic link) Need Foster, a Richmond English Setter dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a English Setter for sale in Richmond, or seeking a English Setter dog from a breeder in Richmond.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Richmond already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Richmond breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even English Setter breeders who help with English Setter rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Richmond paves the way for another one to be saved.
