My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

It amazes us the dogs that end up in shelters down South. :( This is Andy, an approximately 2 yo 50lb. Beagle/Basset Hound mix. Andy somehow ended up in a shelter down South and we can't understand why. He is full of life, loves everyone, and LOVES TO PLAY! Andy is definitely a mix and does not always understand how big and strong he is. While he loves everyone, we would have serious concerns with him knocking over and hurting young children. He is still young and exuberant, and still has some puppy-type behaviors like jumping and mouthing. He is a big baby and could definitely fit the bill of a "bull in a china shop." Andy keeps his crate clean and dry and is working on his housetraining. He likes to play with other dogs, but sometimes can be a little much for even his smaller foster siblings. He just doesn't always realize his weight or strength!! He tolerates the cat in his foster home, but shows some general interest and curiosity. You couldn't meet a sweeter, friendlier dog. Andy can be difficult to walk given his size and strength and we are looking for him to have a fenced in yard since he loves to run and play. Andy would really prefer someone who is home a bit since he is not a fan of his crate, and uncrating him for extended periods at this young age would not be advisable. Andy has a hound voice and definitely uses it, so apartment and/or townhome dwellers should likely pass him by. Andy would love to have some toys in his forever home and to get to sleep in bed with you. He loves to snuggle and just wants to be with you. The unconditional love that pours out of Andy is undeniable and we hope we can find the right family that is deserving enough of it! If you are looking for an adorable, loving, BIG "Bagel" - please ask about Andy. He is just an awesome dog who is looking for a great home.
