Mack is a gorgeous 2-3 year old purebred male coonhound presently in a foster home with Citrus County Animal Services. He is humorous, good-natured and easygoing. He loves to be hugged around his neck and melts into a full body massage any time of day. He’s very playful. He carries his “baby” (his soft squeaky toy) everywhere, waiting for his person to play fetch. He’s never been destructive.
Mack is completely non-aggressive, even with cats, and he’s neutral with other dogs. He’s very smart, inquisitive and alert. He’s undemanding and has a low-maintenance short healthy coat. True to his hound nature, he loves long walks where he can sniff out new territory.
Mack is timid with people he doesn’t know well (especially men) but once he gets to know them, he’s a very loving dog, a wonderful companion, and very bonded. He is perfectly housebroken. He’s walking well on a leash, after some practice. He needs the comfort of being inside in a home where he can have companionship and be part of the family, but also needs plenty of space to run. He doesn’t bark excessively, unless he wants to be where his human companion is. Mack is a joy to have around! If you’re interested and could give the right environment and love to Mack, please call Judy, at 503-3363 or email jamcbriar@yahoo.com.

Shelter Info...
Friends of Citrus County Animal Services (FOCCAS) was formed by a team of concerned citizens who are dedicated to advocating animal welfare, community involvement and humane education. Our mission is to build awareness in the community about the shelter, increase the adopt-ability of shelter animals, highlight our adoptable pets, work to increase pet adoptions and foster alliances with rescues.
FOCCAS is a registered charity in the State of FL and has 501(c)(3) status with the IRS. We have no paid employees or directors. We are 100% volunteer-based. All donations are used to help the animals. Our volunteers provide their own transportation for themselves and shelter pets to adoption events, veterinary care, and rescue groups. Often our pets require extensive medical care for conditions or injuries that are beyond the scope of shelter medicine. Surgeries and x-rays are the most common. We rely entirely on donations and fundraising efforts.
Citrus County Animal Services is the only open-door shelter in Citrus County that takes "all comers". No matter what condition the animal is in that comes through the door - surrendered, found, abandoned - the shelter will try and save the animal and find him/her a loving, permanent home.
We are very active in Citrus county and our schedule of events and locations changes weekly. Please visit our Events webpage to see where we will be this week !!
