My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Roscoe is a kind, loving, energetic young dog. He is approximately 1 - 2 years old and still looks and acts a bit like a puppy. He sheds very minimally and is a calm, affectionate, cuddly and happy young dog. He is a great size at just under 30 lbs with a slim build.
Like the Greyhound, the Whippet is a total couch potato in the home but can be very energetic outside and does require a good walk/run each day. As long as Roscoe is getting his exercise requirements met, he could like in just about any home situation including an apartment. He is very quiet in the home and rarely barks. He sheds very little and has a beautiful glossy coat.

Here is what his foster family had to say:

Roscoe is friendly with everyone he meets including very young children but he prefers to be around older children and adults. He needs to be included as part of the family and thrives on lots of attention and cuddles. He is very intelligent and learns quickly making him a great candidate for obedience training. He needs some work on his socialization with other dogs as he appears to have some fear issues there and can get stressed when people raise their voice. He is a very happy, loving companion that would enjoy a calm home environment. Roscoe is not shy with anyone, and is comfortable around everyone, and just wants to be loved and pet.

Roscoe is one of the smartest, most affectionate dogs I have ever fostered. He loves attention and is a very affectionate and cuddly boy. He does everything he can to make people laugh and pet him. He does like to be wherever you are and doing whatever you are doing. He is very calm and quiet in the home but always up for a walk. Outside he is energetic and outgoing. He would definitely need at least one if not two good walks each day.

Roscoe is totally house trained and is very good about making you know he has to go out to do his business. He responds well to his name, is a smart dog that learns very quickly. In the short time he has been here he has learned “sit”, “shake a paw” and understands when you ask he would like to go for a walk. He never chews on anything he shouldn’t and never begs for food. We have caught him counter surfing but a quick “no” is all he needs. When we are out of the house or at night he is crated and he goes in with no problems and sleeps through the night with no issues. He will sometimes go in his crate through the day for a nap. He is not yet fully leash trained and does still pull at times but he is well on his way. With further obedience training Roscoe will be amazing!

Roscoe will bark at strange dogs and although he has been with other dogs with no problem, we feel that further socialization in this area would be a plus. He is not aggressive in the least and is actually quite submissive with people so it is probably a fear reaction from something in his past. He also doesn’t like it when people raise their voices but that could be just the fact that he is a sensitive little dog.

Roscoe is a WONDERFUL young dog. He is very energetic and loving. He loves to cuddle and have people spend lots of time with him. Whenever he sees you, his tail will start wagging and he runs to greet you. The ideal situation for Roscoe would be a family that has lots of time to train and give the love and affection he needs, and to walk him. Roscoe is a very healthy dog with a beautiful coat. He is not dominant in any way, and is very submissive. He is still learning to play with toys, but prefers the company of his humans. Overall he is just a sweet young dog looking for a family that will love him forever and that is willing to put the time and effort in to make him the best he can be.

If you think Roscoe would be a good fit for your family, please submit an application for consideration.
