Maggie's Story...
My name is Maggie. My previous owner was in the service and got sent overseas, so I had to find a new home (long story but I ended up in the shelter). I'm a happy, go-lucky, adorable red merle female. I'm also deaf, but don't let that scare you, I'm a great gal! Because I can't hear you, I always make sure you are in my sight. I tend not to wander too far…especially in the house. Where ever you are, that’s where I want to be! I’m also very smart!! I already know the signs for Sit, Come and Stay (most of the time). I'm still a little confused at the Down sign. When you tell me to go Down, I will sometimes give you my paw! I'm also crate trained and house broken.

I was just recently spayed. I'm still very young at 10 mos old so I have a lot of living to do! I get along great with other dogs too. I'd love to have a new brother or sister. I love to play with the other dogs but I also enjoy spending time with my human. You can often find me sitting at your feet or sleeping with you in bed! Did I tell you how much I like to go for car rides??? I am so good in the car…but I’m no back seat driver. I like to be up front where all the action is and will lay down and fall right to sleep. Please give me a chance. Maggie is a great dog. You MUST have a securely fenced yard.

PLEASE read up on deaf dogs at the Deaf Dog Education Action Fund www.deafdogs.org

Maggie is fostered in Tampa. 8/22/07

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Maggie, a Orlando Australian Shepherd dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Australian Shepherd for sale in Orlando, or seeking a Australian Shepherd dog from a breeder in Orlando.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Orlando already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Orlando breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Australian Shepherd breeders who help with Australian Shepherd rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Orlando paves the way for another one to be saved.
