Ben's Story...
BEN! (A19380224) *Senior Sweetheart!*
Kind, gentle sweetheart alert! This handsome, baby-faced guy is named Ben (A19380224)! He is estimated to be between 7 and 10 years old and appears to be some sort of Retriever/Pittie mix, but to be safe we'll just call him one adorable mutt! Ben came to the shelter as a stray and is now on the hunt for a new foster or adoptive home! Though he has stubby little legs, Ben is a bit.. round... and weighs close to 80 pounds! He may have a bit more energy when he loses a few pounds, but he will likely stay a low-energy guy who LOVES to spend his time with people. If he's not cuddling up to his volunteer and staff friends, you'll find him on a walk out in the shelter yard, which he loves. He'll gladly stay right next to you on walks and will not pull you around, despite being a bigger boy. Ben has great manners, already knows basic commands and is very treat motivated! Ben has met a few dogs here at the shelter and was friendly, social and comfortable spending time with them! He'd likely make a great addition to families who already have dogs at home. Despite being a little overweight, he appears to otherwise be in good physical shape. Ben is already neutered and microchipped and can go home with his family the same day. The shelter is no place for this sweet, social guy. He needs a foster or adoptive home! Interested in meeting him? Please stop on by!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Ben, a Philadelphia Labrador Retriever/Pit Bull Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/Pit Bull Terrier for sale in Philadelphia, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/Pit Bull Terrier dog from a breeder in Philadelphia.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Philadelphia already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Philadelphia breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/Pit Bull Terrier breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/Pit Bull Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Philadelphia paves the way for another one to be saved.
