My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"Penny" is a beautiful, nearly 1½-yo spayed female GSD who is friendly and easy-going. Penny is somewhat aloof of strangers, but never aggressive. She is great with her family's infant child. Penny gets along well with other dogs and used to attend a doggy daycare center regularly. Penny has not been around cats, so per my policy, I will not place Penny in a home with cats. Penny is a large GSD for a female, and weighs about 70 lbs; she'll probably weigh about 80 lbs fully grown, still trim.

Penny earned her AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate at about 1 year. Though she obeys basic commands, she does pull strong on leash during walks. Penny likes to play with a basketball, but is not much of a retriever. She likes to splash in a kiddy pool on warm days. Penny rides very calmly in the car.

Penny's owners have kept her outside primarily since they adopted her as a puppy at about 4 months old. They do have her sleep inside in a crate, and bring her inside in the crate when it is rainy or cold. Though it can't be said with certainty that Penny is fully housetrained, at her age it is very easy for a dog to make the transition from outside dog to inside/outside dog.

Penny's owners are seeking a new home for her because the wife recently had a baby, and is no longer paying much attention to Penny. The husband works long hours and doesn't have time to spend with Penny.

GSRSV has evaluated Penny and is placing her as a "Program Dog." This means that GSRSV is seeking a new home for Penny through its adoption program while her owners continue to care for her. Penny's adoption fee is $250.
