My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ginger is a very friendly and social young girl. She loves everyone and would do well with another playful young dog in the home. She would make a great family companion and would enjoy respectful children that wanted to play with her. She would be a good candidate for obedience school as she is quick to learn and eager to please. She is approximately 1 - 2 years old and weighs just 45 lbs.

Here is what her foster family had to say:

Ginger is a pretty, affectionate and playful young girl. She loves absolutely everyone and everything. She is a medium sized dog at approximately 45 lbs and would do well in just about any family situation and with someone who was willing to continue her training but also ensure she got all the loving she craves. Ginger is approximately 1 - 2 years old.

Ginger is such an exciting dog. She has such an thirst for activity, and is always happy when she is around people. She loves absolutely everyone she meets (especially new faces) and craves to meet every dog she sees on walks. There is absolutely no aggression in Ginger at all, although she does sometimes get scared if growled at by other dogs. She also is incredibly cuddly, and loves sleeping with/on/around people. She also gives people hugs and kisses daily.

Ginger is so excited to go outside & play, but she also loves her down time where she gets to snuggle beside you on the couch. When we first received Ginger, she knew absolutely no commands. With patience and her new favourite treats (Zuke's Treats), we have taught her to 'Sit' (by speech), 'Lie Down' (with guidance of tapping on the floor), and just started working on 'Paw'. She also does pretty good with dropping toys after fetching. She is still a puppy in many ways and would need to be crated when you are out of the home until she can be completely trusted. She can be a little bit of a beggar for food but she is getting much better with that as we have been working on telling her to go lie down when we are eating. She is also learning which are her toys to play with and what things she shouldn't touch. We have also tried to implement her waiting by the door when she comes in, because we wipe her feet with a towel to get off the mud.

She is now completely house trained and has started to walk back and forth from you to the door to let you know she wants out, and if you don't notice, she'll bark at the door and at you to let you know. We use a crate when we leave during the day but she has been sleeping with us at night. She is usually left in the crate for a max of 5 hrs, but she'd be fine with longer as long as she had a kong or something to chew on to keep her busy. Ginger is pretty good on a leash. She does pull a little bit when there is another dog but easily controllable. I would say she is nearly leash trained. We have only been in the car once with Ginger but she rides extremely well. You do need to watch and ensure she stays back at the door or when you open a fence as she will try to run out.

Ginger is incredibly social and loving, and loves to cuddle everyone. We have not met any children with her but I'm sure she would love them just as much! Absolutely no aggression as been shown by Ginger. Even when playfully wrestling, she knows not to bite. Ginger does not show any shyness and absolutely adores meeting new people.

Ginger is ecstatic when she has the opportunity to meet other dogs. She gladly goes and sniffs them and says hi, and never shows aggression. We have not had the chance to meet any cats, but I am sure if introduced properly she would be fine.

Ginger is such a snuggly dog and so passionate and loving. She craves people being around her, so someone with time to spend with her and love her would be ideal. She has a lot of energy to burn so having a yard would be nice, or at least a couple walks or trips to the dog park. She is bound to brighten up anyone's day and is great to have around everyone.

If you would like to make this sweet young girl part of your family, please submit an application for consideration.
