Dixie's Story...
Dixie is a purebred female adult rottweiler believed to be about 2 or 3 years old, who found herself on death row at the pound. We could see how gentle and sweet she was the first time we met her and we couldn't possibly let her die. She was with a male rottweiler who we named Cowboy,. They were both malnutrition to the point that you count their ribs by just looking at them and their hip bones were poking out. Both Cowboy and Dixie would cower down if you approached them too quicly or if there was a loud noise. Now fast forward two weeks and Dixie has transformed from a ugly duckling to a beautiful swan. She has a ot more confidence, has gained enough weight to make her look very healthy, the shine has returned in her coat, and best of all she has the best demeanor that I could ask of a rottie. She plays very well with all dogs. She actually knows how to initiate play with strange dogs. To watch her is very fun and exciting for us. She will approach a new dog with a play bow and then run a circle around it and stop to get the dogs response. If the dog just stands there, she will play bow again and nudge the dog with her nose and then run around the yard trying to get the other dog to chase her. She is very gracefulin the way that she runs. It truly warms my heart t see this little girl the way she is today. He foster brother is a small breed dog, and even though she would love a bigger dog to play a wrestle with, she takes not to hurt her little brother. She loves to play with the 2 year old grandson that comes to her house to visit often. She will amuse him by fetching the ball that he is only strong enough to throw about 3 feet. She picks it up and returns it to his feet and waits patiently for him to throw it again. She is gentle with him. She will make some family proud to call her their own! To meet Dixie is to love Dixie!!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Dixie, a Gilbert Rottweiler dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Rottweiler for sale in Gilbert, or seeking a Rottweiler dog from a breeder in Gilbert.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Gilbert already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Gilbert breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Rottweiler breeders who help with Rottweiler rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Gilbert paves the way for another one to be saved.
