Bailey's Story...
Little Bailey, a 3-year-old Shih Tzu, was surrendered to Kiko along with Henri, a male Shih Tzu/Poodle mix of the same age, because their owner could no longer care for them. Both arrived in a sadly neglected state but a good grooming soon lifted their spirits. Both Bailey and Henri are very small, weighing less than 10 pounds, and would not be appropriate in a home with very young children. They are very friendly and always happy to be around people. We would like to adopt them out together if possible, but would also consider separate homes because they do not seem closely bonded. Please contact Kiko if you are interested in either one - or both!

All Kiko dogs have been examined by a veterinarian, vaccinated, dewormed, tested for heartworm, sterilized, and require an adoption fee of $400 ($250 for senior dogs and $125 for cats) and an adoption contract.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Bailey, a Rigaud Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in Rigaud, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Rigaud.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Rigaud already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Rigaud breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Rigaud paves the way for another one to be saved.
