Nutella's Story...
At 3 years old, Nutella finds herself at the shelter because her previous family was not equipped to deal with some of the behavior issues she started demonstrating. For the most part, Nutella is your typical lab. She is always happy, very playful, excited to see you and always has energy to spare. She loves to go jogging or just take a nice brisk walk by your side. She is well versed i...s basic commands and appears to be housebroken. Nutella does have some resource guarding issues and for that reason she will need to be adopted to an Adult-Only home and without another pet. Nutella is dog friendly, but for her to have the best shot at overcoming her issues, she'll need the one on one attention. She'll be a wonderful addition to your home provided she is given boundaries and and an outlet when she is afraid or needs to escape. If you believe that you could give Nutella the home she needs, then please go visit her at AHS-Tinton Falls. The staff will be able to provide you with all the details!

Our Adoption Process...
When you come in to adopt it is an application process. You will need to fill out the application; upon approval you will need proof of homeownership, mortgage, tax, or sewer bill. If you rent your home, you will need a copy of your lease showing it is ok for you to have pets. If it is not in your original signed lease you will need to get a notarized letter from your landlord. Cat adoption fees are $75.00 plus $50.00 for the spay/neuter. Dog adoption fees vary. Please feel free to call the office with any question; we are here 7 days a week for adoptions between 12pm and 5pm.

The Associated Humane Societies, founded in 1906, is the largest animal sheltering system in New Jersey. We comprise three shelters located in Newark, Forked River, and Tinton Falls . Our Forked River facility also includes Popcorn Park Zoo. Established in 1977, Popcorn Park Zoo is a sanctuary for abandoned, injured, ill, exploited, abused or elderly wildlife, exotic and farm animals, and birds.

The Society is a not for profit, 501 (c) 3 organization, and Popcorn Park is also a federally licensed zoo. The Society prides itself on our devotion to the thousands of animals that we care for annually and the chance for a better life we offer them. Please learn more about the Society and Popcorn Park Zoo throughout our web site, watch A Century of Caring, visit the zoo, public service, giving back, and the various programs we have for them. Come back often ... good things are always happening because AHS cares!

To understand how funds are utilized to help the many animals in our care, read our federal form 990 for charitable organizations and our audited financials.
