Charlie's Info...

I am already neutered, housetrained, in need of an experienced adopter, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and good with cats.

Charlie's Story...
Charlie is a very handsome lab/chow mix. He is approx. 5 years old, neutered and housebroken. He’s had a rough go of it so far. As a puppy, he was adopted to an elderly gentleman who was ultimately unable to care for a young energetic dog. More recently he was in a home where he was loved, but his owners were concerned about his size around the young grandchildren. Charlie loves squeaky toys, carrying socks around, and burying bones. He barks at dogs on TV and is a great watchdog. He knows the give paw and sit commands. He walks well on a leash and likes to play tug with it occasionally. Charlie will thrive with a calm, firm owner that is consistent and confident. We would like to help Charlie find that type of home so he will never have to leave again. He’s moved enough and wants to settle down with someone who knows the chow characteristics (loyal, well-mannered, strong-willed, yet patient and polite). And yes, Charlie is fine with cats in the house but outside – if they run he thinks they are playing and the chase is on! His house manners are impeccable; Very quiet and calm. No counter surfing. Takes treats gently and has no food aggression toward other dogs and gets along very well with his 3 foster brothers. A home without small children is best. About Pocono Animal Welfare Society

About Our Rescue Group...

Pocono Animal Welfare Society, Inc. (PAWS) is a 501c3 non-profit, all-volunteer organization. We are committed to helping abandoned, abused, lost and unwanted animals in the Pocono region and to promoting community awareness about spay/neuter, animal wellness and safety.

We do not maintain a shelter/facility; instead, we rely on the generosity and kindness of volunteers who are willing to foster animals in need.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our adoption events vary based on the animals we have in our rescue. We make every effort to schedule a meeting with adoptive pet and interested adopters as quickly as possible.

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption process consists of an application, home visit and adoption fee. Fee varies based on age of dog, any health issues, etc.
