My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Charlie is a very handsome lab/chow mix. He is approx. 5 years old, neutered and housebroken. He’s had a rough go of it so far. As a puppy, he was adopted to an elderly gentleman who was ultimately unable to care for a young energetic dog. More recently he was in a home where he was loved, but his owners were concerned about his size around the young grandchildren. Charlie loves squeaky toys, carrying socks around, and burying bones. He barks at dogs on TV and is a great watchdog. He knows the give paw and sit commands. He walks well on a leash and likes to play tug with it occasionally. Charlie will thrive with a calm, firm owner that is consistent and confident. We would like to help Charlie find that type of home so he will never have to leave again. He’s moved enough and wants to settle down with someone who knows the chow characteristics (loyal, well-mannered, strong-willed, yet patient and polite). And yes, Charlie is fine with cats in the house but outside – if they run he thinks they are playing and the chase is on! His house manners are impeccable; Very quiet and calm. No counter surfing. Takes treats gently and has no food aggression toward other dogs and gets along very well with his 3 foster brothers. A home without small children is best.
