I am already spayed, housetrained, a special needs pet, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and good with cats.
Beautiful Trixie was discovered in a high kill shelter on a stray hold. We could see that she had a leg injury and some cuts and scrapes and we were not sure of the extent of her injuries or her temperament. Three members of our team decided to meet her and evaluate her. Usually we have to try to evaluate dogs through the kennel fencing for safety, but this time the animal control officer let us meet her up close. She was brought into the office where she hobbled about cheerily on her three healthy legs and jumped from lap to lap, giving kisses. She DEFINITELY passed the temperament test with flying colors! By this time we no longer cared how much it might cost to take care of her physical problems, she had won our hearts! We pulled her immediately and took her straight to our wonderful vet for xrays. It was determined that the injury was old, she had probably been hit by a car, and the leg could not be saved. She was given pain meds and sent home so her foster could have a couple of weeks to help build her up with good nutrition and plenty of rest and relaxation before her surgery.
Now she has healed up and her stitches are out. All of the cuts and scrapes have healed and most of the hair shaved for surgery has started growing back in. She is shiny and beautiful, from the inside out. She never lets her missing leg affect her attitude, she still gives kisses and loves to play. She also loves to snuggle on the couch.
Trixie is only about 25 pounds. She has the Boxer body shape but with a Boston Terrier face, including that sweet, pouty bottom lip!
She is so special to our team and we cannot wait to entrust her care to a wonderful adopter! Could you be that person?
