Paradox's Story...
Rescued from a hoarding situation with his siblings in October, shy Paradox continues to puzzle his human friends with inconsistent behavior. While Paradox was initially the shyest of his siblings and understandably protective of his pretty sisters, he quickly showed potential to be the cuddliest. Even from his earliest days at Tree House his purr rivaled a jet engine while being stroked fast asleep, but once awoken you ran the risk of receiving a scratch on your hand if you didn’t remove it fast enough. Gradually Paradox is learning to trust humans, recently making tremendous strides in his socialization, boldly walking up to strangers to ask for affection and rarely resulting to the claws. We imagine it will not be long before Paradox realizes the joy of napping in laps. Please give Paradox and his sisters extra, the attention he receives at Tree House will encourage him to seek affection from potential adopters. Paradox plays very well with other kittens making him an excellent companion for a cat at home, but of course we would love to see him adopted with one or both of his sisters. Paradox was born in July of 2012.

About Our Shelter...
Tree House is a humane organization that promotes the inherent value of every animal and strives to educate the public about proper and responsible animal care, with a focus on the care and placement of stray cats with special physical and emotional needs. We are committed to finding every healthy and treatable animal a home.

Tree House was founded in 1971 and since that time we have expanded and enhanced our programs and services to become the largest, no-kill, cageless shelter for sick, injured, abused and neglected cats in the Chicagoland area. To date we have found homes for nearly 14,000 cats. In addition to our focus on the rehabilitation and adoption of stray cats, we offer many other valuable programs and services, including our Free Spay/Neuter Program, Pet Loss Grief Support Group, Humane Investigations Team, Youth Volunteer Program, Animal-Assisted Therapy, Behavior Hotline, Pet Food Pantry, and Education Outreach Program.

Our Adoption Process...
At Tree House, trained adoption counselors interview prospective adopters to understand their needs, and then adopters are escorted to the Adoption Floor to choose their future friend. Adopters are encouraged to take as much time as they need to find a cat. All adoption applications stay on file for three months so please don't feel that you need to rush to choose a companion cat right away.

Your adoption fee of $85 covers the cost of your cat's care at Tree House including: spay or neuter, deworming, flea treatment, FIV and FeLV testing, AVID microchip, veterinary examination, and all necessary vaccinations. We also give a 30-day health guarantee on all of our adoptions.

ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS

* A photo I.D.
* A second I.D. with current address and phone number (we recommend a phone bill).
* If you rent, we need your landlord's name and phone number, or a copy of your lease stating that you are allowed to have cats.
* All children under 12 in the household are required to be present for the entire adoption process.
