Sammy's Story...
Meet Sammy. Sammy was turned into a very high kill shelter in SE KY by his owners! Who could turn in such a sweet puppy? Sammy is only 9 months old and is still a puppy. He is very active and loves to run and play. Sammy weighs about 15lbs and is larger than many purebred papillons. He gets along great with other dogs and loves to run around the house with a toy in his mouth trying to entice the other dogs to play. He is currently in a foster home with 3 cats and ignores them completely.

Sammy will be neutered, up-to-date with vaccinations, heartworm tested, microchipped, given a fecal exam, dewormer, and flea preventative prior to adoption. If you are interested in adopting Sammy, please email for an application,

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sammy, a Hazard Papillon puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Papillon for sale in Hazard, or seeking a Papillon puppy from a breeder in Hazard.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Hazard already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Hazard breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Papillon breeders who help with Papillon rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Hazard paves the way for another one to be saved.
