Trixee's Story...
Trixie is an active and very sweet dog. She is a little shy at first, but once she warms up to you. She is very loving. She's mastered the puppy dog eyes and will do anything for a treat and rub down. Her favorite toy is a laser light, she loves to chase that little red dot all over the house! Trixie is housebroken, crate trained, and able to follow basic commands. She is a very quick learner! She is also wonderful with cats, puppies, other dogs and little children. She is very patient and will cuddle up to anything when given the chance. She seems to be part German Shepherd with possibly some Basenji mix and is about 2 years old. If you are interested in meeting her please email her foster mom at or fill out an adoption application online at Thanks.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Trixee, a Houston German Shepherd Dog/Basenji dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog/Basenji for sale in Houston, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog/Basenji dog from a breeder in Houston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Houston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Houston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog/Basenji breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog/Basenji rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Houston paves the way for another one to be saved.
