Adelaide's Story...
My name is Adelaide (Addy for short) and I am a 5-yr-old boxer/lab mix. I was lucky enough to have been found on the IUPUI campus by some wonderful people who took the time to rescue me. Even though I am all bumped and bruised (right now I have a broken toe and I’m recovering from some other things) nothing has broken my spirit. My tail is always wagging and I’m always happy to have someone pet me. Yes you will notice my jaw is a little crooked-- don’t worry, it’s just character. I am kennel trained, house trained, and I walk wonderfully on a leash (at some point I must have been in a loving home to know all this stuff). I can be left alone on the couch with no issues. (Man, I like couches!) I’m pretty good in cars and I’m told I did really well on my first trip to PetSmart. I even got to meet a little kid ! I was careful to stand very still while he petted me. A big guy loved on me , too, which was fun. I am not real fond of cats (especially ones with bells), and I am still getting to know other dogs. All of this is a great new adventure and I can’t wait to see what is next.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Adelaide, a Indianapolis Labrador Retriever/Boxer dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/Boxer for sale in Indianapolis, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/Boxer dog from a breeder in Indianapolis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Indianapolis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Indianapolis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/Boxer breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/Boxer rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Indianapolis paves the way for another one to be saved.
