Martha's Story...
Martha is the most handsome female feline around! Say what you will about her facial goatee but her manners are all lady-like. She was found in a park when a woman was sitting on a bench enjoying the first warm, sunny day in March and Martha approached her kindly to say hello. It was clear this cat had been abandoned and the woman took Martha home with her. The cat was sweet and gentle but the woman's other cat was not thrilled at all about her new sister so the next day, Martha came to us. We know she will find a great home because she is a great cat! You say you want to smile every time you look at your pet? HERE'S MARTHA! : )

We really appreciate your wanting to give a shelter animal a home and encourage you to search for just the right pet.

Each and every animal here is very special to us. We are dedicated to finding each one just the right home. So for some cats and dogs, that means a much longer stay - as sometimes they are not as outgoing, pretty or have as perfect manners as they could. And because we don't "dispose" of them for this, our cost for keeping them healthy and becoming better companions is high.

Our one and only location is:
306 East 59th Street (between 1st & 2nd Avenue) in Manhattan.
Our adoption hours are 7 days a week, 10:30AM - 4:00PM.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Martha, a New York Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in New York, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in New York.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in New York already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a New York breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in New York paves the way for another one to be saved.
