Wembley - ADOPTED!'s Story...

*** WEMBLEY HAS BEEN ADOPTED!  PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT ANOTHER OF OUR WONDERFUL RESCUES! ***

Meet Wembly!  Fun name for a fun pup!  Wembly is close to a year old and after being found as a stray, did a stint in the county pound.  Unfortunately this sweet kid was terrified in the pound and was slated to be euthanized for fear.  Who wouldn't be afraid in such a loud and scary place?!  Almost Home stepped in and now Wembly is having a ball in a foster home until he finds his new forever home, one that will keep him safe and not let him find himself out on the streets again.

Wembly was more than likely kept outdoors with his previous 'owners' and it appears a life beyond a backyard is all new to him.  In the first few days in his foster home it was clear normal household sounds were all foreign to him, the microwave door opening & closing, water coming out of a sink faucet, the ice dispenser, and even someone sneezing.  He has adjusted to the indoor life perfectly and has not had 1 accident in the house.

Here are a few things about this sweet boy:

DOGS: Wembly loves other dogs and likes to wrestle!  He currently lives in a foster home with 2 other large dogs and has more of a submissive personality.  If play gets too rough he will retreat to his humans to referee. He hasn't figured out that toys can be shared with other dogs yet, he prefers he hold on to all things that squeak...for safe keeping of course.  He would be fine as an only dog as well as he loves human affection!  Also a great candidate for the dog park!  He does like to give other dogs lots of kisses, some dogs may be ok with this, others may not.

CATS: Good with the kitties!

KIDS: Wembly is good with kids but still considered a puppy and can be fairly bouncy during playtime, we recommend older kids who can maintain their balance if Wembly knocks into them or jumps up (we are working on the jumping).

HOUSETRAINED: Has had NO accidents in his foster home and knows how to use a doggy door if available.

OBEDIENCE TRAINING: Wem would benefit with an obedience course with his new family.  He is very smart and eager to please!  Because he hasn't been exposed to much, he can be a be skittish during walks and when meeting new people, a group training class will help him be more confident.  He does know 'sit' and is working on 'down'.

CRATE SKILLS: Not a huge fan of going into his crate but is quiet once inside and we recommend he be crated when no one is home...he is a PUPPY :)

LEASH SKILLS: Walks beautifully on a leash!  Stays right by his human's side.  He does get a bit spooked with new sounds like passing cars, lawnmowers, bikes, skateboards, but recovers quickly and just needs more exposure to the world.

DROOL FACTOR: Not a drooler

PERKS & QUIRKS:  Wembly is a very sweet guy who will let someone pet and hug on him for hours.  When meeting new people he takes a few minutes to warm up but seems to like everyone he meets once they scratch his head.  He has great house manners and does not get on the furniture.  He does like to chew on bones and will de-squeak a stuffie in about 10 minutes so we recommend he be given durable toys and crating him while no one is home will keep him from chewing on anything he shouldn't be.  He also has been caught stealing laundry and taking it to his dog bed, he doesn't seem to destroy it...just steals it.

HEALTH STATUS: I have tested NEGATIVE for heartworm, ehrlichiosis, lyme disease and anaplasmosis. I'm getting over a cough.  We are monitoring to see if it's kennel cough or something else....

ENERGY LEVEL: Medium.  Wembly will definitely need to go to home who can take him on a good walk each day, he would be a great hiking partner!  He loves playing with other dogs and likes to chase toys...we are working on the bringing it back part.  He settles down when its time and loves naps on his giant dog bed!

About Our Rescue Group...
We are a private, volunteer, non-profit 501(c)3 organization. We are dedicated to the rescue of unwanted, neglected, and abandoned pets. We specialize in boxers, but for the perfect home we can help you find the perfect pet, or point you to a rescue who can. We provide food, shelter, medical attention, and TLC during our rescues wait for the "RIGHT" forever home.

All of our dogs are in foster homes throughout the valley - we do not have a shelter that you can visit. Once you submit an application, your references are checked and the home visit is complete, we will contact you to set up a satisfactory meeting place for a get-together with your potential adoptive pet.

Our dogs are cared for in foster homes during this wait. We try to have them in a foster home environment for at least 2 weeks. They are temperament tested to the best of our ability to ensure a perfect match into their new home. Our number one concern is for the safety of the adoptive family and the happiness of the pet. We strive for a FOREVER placement - not all dogs are perfect for all families. We don't want to place "A" dog in your home - we want to place "THE" dog for your family!

We can't save every dog but we can make a difference...one dog at a time!

We are desperately seeking foster homes for our wonderful dogs! We also accept used crates or donations of any kind!

Come Meet Our Pets...
Please contact us about a specific pet - we do not have a shelter facility. All pets are in foster homes around the state of Arizona.
Our Adoption Process...
We prefer e-mail to cut down on cell phone minute usage! Once an application is submitted, it is reviewed, references are checked, and a home visit is done. If approved, we will contact you about the dog you are interested in. We want to place these dogs with the "RIGHT" families so it may take a bit to find that dog for you, please be patient.
We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
We adopt within the state of Arizona or surrounding areas where there is no active boxer rescue.
