Gibson is a scruffy cutie pie who looks like a Chihuahua with a little bit of Cairn or other terrier breed mixed in. He is a bit shy at first but does warm up quickly as soon as he realizes you are a nice person. He then becomes affectionate and sweet and enjoys being cuddled. Some people he likes right away and others he feels afraid of initially.
He enjoys leash walks even though he doesn’t seem to have much experience with such things and he is pretty good on the leash. He’s an active boy who will enjoy going on outings with his new family. He is only 9# and about 5 years old.
Gibson is treat motivated and will dance around on his hind legs for a really good one. Treats are a good way for him to get to know new people.
When he first came to us, he was one scared guy and thought we were killing him when we were giving him a bath. When he thinks he is being hurt, he will tell you to leave him alone with quite a racket so he obviously needs to gain more confidence and trust in people. His background is unknown so we don’t know if he had some bad experiences with people or just never had a bath before!
Anyway, once he trusts you, he’s a sweetie and he will bond quickly and thoroughly. Gibson needs an owner who has experience with shy dogs who can act out when they are feeling very frightened. Confidence training will make a huge difference with this guy.
He needs someone who will see how wonderfully affectionate and loving he is and then teach him that all the people in his new life will be trustworthy and kind to him.
Gibson will do best in a household without small children since he might be afraid of their grabbing and quick motions. Adoption donation $150.

LPIA rescues abandoned, breeder, puppy mill and shelter dogs, takes care of their medical and rehabilitation needs and adopts them to stable, loving homes where they are thought of as a beloved member of the family. We strive to find the best possible match for the pets in our care. We also promote and provide spay/neuter assistance to the community.
We will be featuring some of our adoptable dogs at Petco, 1080 S Main St., Kernersville on the following Saturdays from 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM:
July 13, 2013
August 17, 2013
In order to match our pets with their perfect owner, we undergo a relatively thorough Adoption Application and background check during our adoption process. From there, we will set up a "meet 'n greet," so you can spend some time with the prospective pet, and get to know him/her more intimately. If all approved, we will do a home delivery. There is an adoption fee.
