Humphrey's Story...
Humphrey! Humphrey is a courtesy post for his owner who must find him a new home and we appreciate him working through a rescue and keeping him till one is found and making sure it is a good one. He wants to find him a nice home where he will be treated well and part of the family.

His owner describes him as: Humphrey is an 18 month old Beagle/Basset mix. His personality is more that of a Beagle ... he is not high strung, but is not as docile as the Bassets I've had. Humphrey is gentle with people and I have no concerns with him around my children. He is a bit nervous around adult men when he first meets them, but is not at all aggressive. He is completely submissive to other dogs and will definitely not be the alpha in your house. Humphrey needs to be around people a lot or he gets lonely. Unfortunately I have started traveling a lot for work and he is not getting the attention he needs. He doesn't like spending all day in his cage, and I don't have any alternative where I live. He might benefit from living with another dog or someone who is home a lot. He is happy to play or go for a walk. More than anything he needs someone who has time for him. He is neutered and up to date on shots. He is house trained but can have a ‘nervous’ accident if he’s scared.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Humphrey, a Indianapolis Basset Hound/Beagle dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Basset Hound/Beagle for sale in Indianapolis, or seeking a Basset Hound/Beagle dog from a breeder in Indianapolis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Indianapolis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Indianapolis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Basset Hound/Beagle breeders who help with Basset Hound/Beagle rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Indianapolis paves the way for another one to be saved.
