My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Champagne (Champ for short) is a very lovely girl looking for her furever home. She was surrendered to us back in August, and has been a joy to have here. Before being surrendered, she lived with the same family for 15 years before coming to us. Her owner got her when he was 10 yrs. old. Throughout his life he was her sole caretaker, but when he went off to college his parents took over. His parents, while having a good heart, didn't spend a lot of time with her. Her owner decided that since he was going to be in school for awhile, that it would make more sense for him to find her a good home where she would get more attention.

Champ is a very sweet girl. She is a little barky when she goes to a new place, but I believe her eyesight may not be 100% which could be why. Once she gets to know you all she wants is love. She loves being scratched and rubbed. She's a good eater and loves her hay. She also loves nothing more than to run on her wheel, and roll around in her dust bath. She doesn't at all act like a 15 yr old chinchilla. She came into the rescue with an eye infection in both eyes that he owner said he noticed when he came back home from a college break in March. He thought his parents would take care of it, but they didn't, so it was pretty bad when she came to me in August. We treated her with oral and optical antibiotics. She has gotten the all clear from our vet, but her eyes do still sometimes water a bit. He said it could be from her tear ducts being clogged for so long. She has had a thorough, sedated, teeth exam and her teeth look fine.

While she is an older gal, many chinchillas live into their late 20's, so please don't let her age deter you. She is a very sweet girl who deserves her own family.

Her adoption fee is $40 and includes 3 month supply of food, hay, treats, hay cubes, chinchilla dust, and other supplies.
