Fostered in Chantilly, VA
My name is Scooby, but my friends call me 'Scoobs' for short. I am a 1-2 year old terrier, weighing in around 60lbs. Mutts Matter was contacted about me by a local shelter, who removed me from the 'home' I was in. Animal control found me locked in a closet, and brought me to the shelter. Despite past hardships, I am a SUPER nice guy. I am very social, good with other dogs (watch my video of me playing), and love people. I am clearly very forgiving of people, despite how they've treated me in the past. I do tend to hide when I hear loud noises, and still could use some help in the confidence department. I would do well in a home with other dogs, and with older children. In my foster home, I am working on my leash skills and some basic commands. I'm smart and very eager to learn. Anyone that adopts me will need to know that there is a higher level of committment to owning a 'bully breed'. We need training, mental stimulation, and lots of praise. Don't believe the stereotypes surrounding bully breeds. (even though I am a terrrier mutt!) I am truly a total sweetheart who wants nothing more than to love you, and be loved. I would do best in an active home, but I don't need a fence. Please note that I will not be adopted out in any county with a bully breed restriction.
My adoption fee is $300, which covers the cost of routine vetting, rabies and distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, spay/neuter surgery, heartworm testing, my microchip, monthly heartworm prevention, monthly flea/tick prevention, and any transport costs if applicable.

A Little History... Mutts Matter Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non profit, all volunteer based organization, with combined rescue experience of over 15 years. We work in conjunction with shelters and other organizations to help save animals on death row, the strays on the street, or ones in unsafe living conditions. We adopt in the DC, VA, and MD areas, with a few exception out of the tri-state area depending on the dog and situation. We are driven by love, compassion, and hope.
All of our rescues enter their new home spayed or neutered, up to date on all shots, and are micro-chipped. If we take a dog into our rescue, we do our very best to ensure that they are healthy before going to their new “furever”home. With enough hard work and dedication, we hope to be able to empty the shelters one day soon.
At adoption events posted on our events page:
We require you to fill out an adoption application on our website at www.muttsmatterrescue.com
The application will ask for both a vet and personal reference. Both will need to be verified. After those are checked, a pre-screener contacts you to discuss your application.
Once that is complete, they screener decides if they are recommended for a home visit. If the home visit goes well and they are approved to adopt, then they can meet the dog.
Our adoption fee includes the cost of routine vetting, spay/neuter, and microchipping.
