Chips-Prison Dog's Story...
Chips has been selected to be one of Friendship's Prison Dogs. This Prison Dog will be trained in obedience, basic commands, manners and leash training. Chips will remain at the prison between 8-12 weeks. Once he returns, he will be a proud trained Prison Graduate. Chips left for training at the end of April.

If you are interested in adopting Chips, adoption applications are now being accepted. They can be downloaded at www.friendshipapl.org. but must be hand delivered to Friendship. If you have any questions please call the shelter at 440-322-4321. A limited amount of adoption apps are taken on each Prison Dog.

Check out Mr. Chips! He's a lively 2 year old Coonhound mix that arrived from another facility in hopes of getting a home sooner at Friendship. This fellow has a pleasant personality. He loves to get out and run and play in the fenced in area outside.

Chips was recently adopted and returned. The family was devastated but Chips was a little too much for their younger kids. They said he was a wonderful dog. They even had him DNA tested and found him to be a purebred English Coonhound. His former family also had a trainer come to their home and work with Chips.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Chips-Prison Dog, a Elyria English (Redtick) Coonhound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a English (Redtick) Coonhound for sale in Elyria, or seeking a English (Redtick) Coonhound dog from a breeder in Elyria.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Elyria already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Elyria breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even English (Redtick) Coonhound breeders who help with English (Redtick) Coonhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Elyria paves the way for another one to be saved.
