Here comes Lilah!
Please read Lilah's ENTIRE write-up and watch both of the videos we have of her. There is one video embedded in her write-up and another You Tube video at the bottom of her write-up.
Lilah is a 4 1/2 year old Lab/Pitbull/Weimaraner mix with the goofy playful energy of a puppy. She is always up for a game of fetch, tug-of-war or wrestle. If she can't find anyone to play with her, she is perfectly happy to make her own fun, tossing her toys in the air and running after them.
Lilah is a friendly and affectionate girl who loves people. She also loves being on the floor (that is very supervised) in doggy day care at Cage Free Canine off of Robertson Blvd in LA. Lilah also has a crazy crush on another big male foster dog in her foster home named Max. She always wants to give Max kisses.
While Lilah is sweet with many dogs she meets, we properly introduce her to all dogs (we take our time and go s-l-o-w-l-y with each dog introduction with Lilah). We enrolled Lilah in the 'Train and Play' program at Cage Free Canine with their head trainer. This program cost our animal rescue $2,400 for a two months course for Lilah. It is basically like Lilah received an Ivy League education. You will too if you adopt her. We would have you work with her trainer so you can be the best guardian for Lilah. How great is that? You will get free training from our rescue!! You can't beat that deal. We want Lilah to be an ambassador for her breed. Even her current foster mom went through the training at Cage Free too. It is invaluable!
If you have had pit-mix experience, Lilah is your gal! We want her adopter to have experience because there was an incident with Lilah and another dog in her first foster home (the one we had her in before we put her with her currrent foster mom). It involved Lilah and two other dogs. The details are a bit long, but we will share them with you if you are interested in meeting Lilah. It happened within the first 4 days of her being out of the North Central Shelter. Since then, Lilah has been doing AMAZING in her foster home and enjoys the company of other dogs. But Lilah needs to be slowly and properly introduced to other dogs. But once she is properly introduced to a dog, she wants to be their best friend.
Lilah is crate-trained and housebroken. And as we mentioned, she is also great with the 50-60 other dogs on the big dog floor at Cage Free Canine. She does very well on the 'big dog' floor and loves to paly. She goes to doggy day care at Cage Free 2 to 3 days every week. You should see her run around and smile while playing with all her doggy friends. It is endearing. Lilah also does well with supervised play with other dogs that are in her foster home (including other foster dogs and the occassional dog that may visit). Again, her foster mom slowly introduces Lilah to these other dogs. Lilah is not the kind of dog that just goes up to any dog she meets and is BFFs with them. She needs a proper introduction.
We think with structure, love and lots of exercise, she will be a total gem in a loving home. Lilah ADORES being cuddled and pet, but she respects furniture rules and is perfectly happy to lie at your feet or in her own bed nearby. Lilah is also a great walker. She loves to go for long walks and hikes.
We took this video below (just click the link) of Lilah at one of our recent animal adoption days at The West Hollywood Park. You can check out just how sweet she is right here:
Lilah would make a great family dog because she loves to be a part of a busy house. Since Lilah is a big dog, she should probably go to a home that does not have YOUNG children (she may knock over a toddler with her happy energy). But she would be just fine with kids who teenagers and older. Lilah is a curious girl who enjoys exploring and seeing what everyone is up to. She bonds easily with her people and she is so eager to please.
If you have another dog, we think it would be best if you have another big male dog who likes to play and is a happy-go-lucky guy. At Molly's Mutts & Meows we do not place FEMALE TO FEMALE power breeds (pit bulls/German Shepherds/Rottweilers, etc.) in the same home. Most trainers do not advise this with females (they don't call them 'bitches' for nothing :). We know Lilah would love having a friendly big male dog as her bestie. Again, we will have you work with Lilah's trainer at Cage Free Canine to make sure it is a good fit for Lilah and your whole family. We will cover these costs too.
